Tips For Getting The Best Prime Day Kitchen Deals

Please subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!

We love our Amazon Prime! We signed up for a 30-day trial years ago and never looked back 🙂 I order a ton of stuff from Amazon, so having the free one-day shipping is amazing.

If you aren’t familiar with Prime Day, it is a two-day event every year with a bunch of great deals! New deals are being added all the time. I find that it can be really stressful, so I thought I’d put together a few tips that I have learned over the years.

PLEASE NOTE: If you choose to purchase through the links below, we do receive a small commission from each sale at NO extra cost to you. All proceeds go back into making more content! It is a great way to help us out so we can keep improving our content.

Do I Need A Membership To Get Deals?

I should start by saying you WILL need a Prime membership to take advantage of the deals. The good news is, as long as you meet the requirements, you can sign up for a 30-Day Free Trial here if you are unsure about it. This way you can cancel if you don’t love it.

I will say, I just tried to get the 30-day trial under a separate Amazon account Brian has from a long time ago. Because he has done a trial in the past on that account, he was NOT eligible for the 30-day trial. They did offer him a one-week trial for $1.99, which is also great. Just be sure to read the text when you click through to make sure you understand what membership deal you are getting. Also if you do a trial, DO NOT forget to go back and cancel it before the trial period ends, unless you decide to keep it.

How Can I Find The Best Deals?

If you are anything like me, you get anxiety over making sure you are actually getting the best deal. It can be difficult to navigate through all of the deals for Prime Day, so I like to start by checking out their hub for Deals on Kitchen Products. You can browse through all of the kitchen related deals there. Since the deals change a lot throughout the event, this is always a good starting point to find ideas on what you might want to get!

You can also use the search bar at the top of Amazon and where it says “All” switch that to “Prime Day.” Then, search for whatever product you are looking for and it will display all of the Prime Day deals for related products! I recommend checking back a few times a day because they really do keep adding new deals.

What is a “Lightning Deal”?
Why Do Some Deals Have “Percentage Claimed” Listed?

To create more stress (LOL), Amazon has “Lightning Deals” that pop up throughout the two-day event. These are basically deals that only last a certain amount of time (a few hours usually). Once that time is up, you will no longer be able to get that deal.

A lot of deals also have a limited quantity available, so pay attention to the “percentage claimed” when you see it. For example, I was just looking at a Lightning Deal that ends in five hours and is at 8% claimed. In this case, the deal lasts until the Lightning Deal period ends OR whenever the percentage claimed reaches 100% – whichever comes first.

Don’t let all of the countdowns and timers scare you into buying things. Take your time, do your research to make sure it is actually a decent price, and really think about what you buy before you get it. Make sure it is something you will actually use – otherwise, you are just throwing money away instead of saving it!

Item To Look Out For: Instant Pot

Last year on Prime Day, I spent a lot of time debating over whether or not I should get an Instant Pot. We were still at the very beginning of our whole food, plant-based journey at the time, so I wasn’t sure if we would actually use it and decided not to get one. I immediately regretted it and waited for Black Friday to get one. If you’ve been on the fence, I have found that Prime Day is one of the best times to purchase one! Right now you can get the 6-quart model below for $55.99 while they last.

Item To Look Out For: High Speed Blenders

If you’ve been thinking about getting a high speed blender like a Vitamix or Blendtec, Prime Day might be your best bet! Last year, they had great deals pop up for both of these, so keep your eyes peeled. Right now, there is a really good deal on a Vitamix 5200 and also a few Blendtec offers. You can also check this link for any new ones that might get added!

What If I Don’t Have Prime & I Don’t Want To Sign Up?

Sometimes I have found that you can still take advantage of Prime Day even if you aren’t a member! Start on Amazon by checking out the hub for Deals on Kitchen Products to find out what deals are happening.

If you find something you want, start shopping around on other sites like Target, Walmart, Macy’s, Kohls, etc. to see if they have lowered any prices to match the Amazon deals. In the past, I have found that they will start rolling out competitive deals throughout the two-day event, so keep this in mind!

Things On My Wish List

If you watched our Top 10 Kitchen Tools & Gadgets or Top 7 Small Kitchen Appliances videos, you know that we do NOT need any more kitchen stuff LOL! That being said, here are a few things I’ll be keeping my eye out for throughout Prime Day:

Ceramic Cookware Sets (omg I just found a teal one 😍)

Dutch Oven (Brian broke our Martha Stewart one while using it as a tofu press 😭)

Induction Burner (mostly to use for filming)

Mortar & Pestle (for Brian’s spice blends!)

Tofu Press (see note above about Brian breaking our Dutch Oven LOL)

I watch your videos and you both inspire me. I am a 73-year-old lady but I enjoy all your videos. I was born across the river in E St Louis and grew up in Granite City, IL so it is fun for me to see where you live. I live in a suburb of PA and have now for 10 years. Thank you for being you! I don’t participate in social media.

  2. I can’t remember how I came across your YouTube videos, but I am glad I did. I had seen a while back Kevin Smith’s video talking about the potato diet and Penn Jilette’s influence. I don’t know why or how, but I decided to start the potato diet on Aug 1. I should have listened to Presto audiobook earlier because I didn’t conserve energy and actually worked out. By day four I had listened to a lot of the book and knew better and got an explanation of why day 3 and 4 were so horrible in hindsight.
My wife decided to join me in the diet and we are doing russets and okinawan purple potato mostly. Doing a lot the wrong way–three small children precludes hibernating and conserving energy. We have a hurricane tracking close to the island we live and it is muggy with temp index at 101 today, so it’s hard to stay cool.
I am having trouble wanting to eat the potatoes.I need to eat enough to keep acid from building up on an empty stomach, but my god I don’t want potatoes anymore. The upside is that even though I feel bad and tired and low-energy, I feel great in terms of not carrying around the water-fat weight. 5 days done and 273.4 down to 258.4. Much faster than I wanted to drop, but I can barely eat two potatoes a day right now. Looking forward to corn on day 15. Did you guys do the other stuff that Penn did? Like contrast showers and such? What did you transition into immediately after the diet ended? Maybe I haven’t looked in your playlist far enough…

    • Hi John! Just seeing this now… wondering how the rest of your potato days went! The last few days of it were super rough for us… didn’t want ANY more potatoes LOL. I tried a few “contrast” showers but I hated the cold water… haha. We started following the “6 week plan” from the book Eat To Live right after our two weeks of potatoes. We have made modifications over the past year or so, but it was a good starting point for us. Basically just switching to a whole food, plant-based diet. Please keep us updated on how you are doing now!

So I started the diet by myself, but my wife joined in about 3 or 4 days in. Days 3 and 4 were hard for me, particularly because I started the diet before listening to Penn’s book on Audible. So on day 4 I got to the part saying to hibernate. Oops. Day 3 I overexerted myself(had to walk several miles, carry a bunk bed for the kids upstairs 3 flights, put together said bunk bead in 7 hours). I’m lucky that day didn’t break me, but watching your blog and listening to Penn and later Fuhrman’s Eat To Live helped me focus. I was miserable much of the time. I have acid reflux and I figured the best way to help get rid of it is to lose weight. I stopped a medication for GERD and walked a tight line because I HAD to have something in the stomach in order not to upset it, but I abhorred potatoes. I started with creamers, switched to yukon golds with occasional Okinawan sweet potatoes, a couple of Russets and that was pretty much it. It was mostly fasting, though. I didn’t want to eat potatoes. I dreaded it. Many days I had a couple or three yukons and several slices of Okinawan purple potatoes. I started the diet at 273 and dropped to 249, so 24 pounds off. I’m down a shirt size, my shorts are way too loose, I’m a belt buckle hole slimmer. People I know are shocked left and right when they see me. It’s very obvious. I am super-happy with so many things like energy and not carrying the pounds and feel good in intangible ways. I am somewhere between Penn and your description of eating foods again. I don’t get the full glee that Penn did and am closer to what you guys described. I can taste the foods better and can appreciate the flavors. I tried a grape and it just seemed amazingly sweet. The strawberries are amazing. Chilled watermelon sent me over the moon. When I bit into the watermelon after having a big hearty salad, I was in heaven. I knew at that point that I wasn’t going to be missing flavor. We listened to Fuhrman’s book and I’ve added tons of views to your videos. Treated the salad prep like the word of God and bought lots of the items on your list via your links(got the veggie chopper, mini whisk, cutting bowl, the storage bowls, the measuring cup, and the bake mats(made the tofu today!). We prepped the food on my last day and were ready for salads. I had been shopping Costco and Whole Foods with an eye on sodium and it was very illuminating.
We have used your recipes and tweaked a little here and there to suit our tastes and are doing the same with Fuhrman’s recipes. It’s a whole new world of flavor right now.
The main thing I am dealing with is the blood pressure. Dropping weight that quickly meant monitoring the BP and I got to the point the doc said stop taking the meds. I found I wasn’t quite there yet, so am halving the meds and possibly will adjust again. But it is a positive thing. Perhaps someday I will no longer need meds to reduce uric acid as well(gout, kidney stones). Anyway, enjoying the new adventure and following you from afar. Thanks for the inspiration and all the excellent advice!
