You might remember that when I made my Super Chocolately Nice Cream Shake a few months ago, Brian said he was working on his own shake flavor. Well, he finally put one together that was more in his “style,” and even though it’s getting colder, we thought we’d go ahead and share it! It’s summer somewhere, right?

The ingredients for Brian’s shake are pretty simple… you just need frozen bananas, almond milk (or any plant-milk really), maple syrup, almond extract and vanilla extract.

In our last video, we made two kinds of homemade almond milk and compared them to a few store-bought almond milks, so we had PLENTY on hand for this recipe! The question was… which almond milk would we use?

We couldn’t decide… so we went old school! I made a paper fortune teller to help us decide between the four kinds in our almond milk experiment video: homemade from almonds, homemade from almond butter, Trader Joe’s Unsweetened Almond Beverage, and Elmhurst “Milked Almonds.”

Brian ended up picking our favorite one on the fortune teller… the homemade from almonds!

After that, it is really as simple as combining the ingredients in a blender and blending! We used our Vitamix with the 20oz blending cup attachment, but you can use a regular blender as well.

Recipe: Brian's Almond Maple Nice Cream Shake

by Krocks In The Kitchen

Ingredients

  • – 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • – 125-150g ripe frozen banana (about 1 large banana)
  • – 1 Tbsp pure maple syrup
  • – 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • – 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • – 6 to 10 ice cubes

Directions

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a blender. You can adjust the amount of ice to get the consistency you like.
  2. Blend on high until creamy, about 60 seconds.
  3. Enjoy!

This shake has a really nice flavor from the almond extract and a hint of maple combined with the vanilla. Yum!

I like to add a few unsweetened 100% cocoa chocolate chips at the end and blend until they are small enough to go through the straw. It makes a great vanilla chocolate chip shake!

We enjoy splitting one of these as a tasty dessert (even in the fall and winter months), and you can bet that we will work on other flavors in the future!

Looks good! But please don’t use plastic straws! They all end up in the ocean and will never disintegrate! Thanks

  2. Mavis Mearns says:

    They used re-usable silicone straws.
