We’ve had a lot of new people join our little “community” over the past month, so we’ve been getting a ton of questions! We answered a bunch during our last live Q&A on YouTube and in this 15-minute recap video. Today we are answering all of your questions about what we eat (and drink) while losing weight on our whole food, plant-based (WFPB) diet. Watch the video to see us answer all of the questions, and then scroll below for links to recipes and more information!
NOTE: We are not doctors or nutrition experts. You should consult your doctor before making any changes to your diet. READ MORE >
WHAT WE DRINK
We got several questions about what we drink, and the answer is quite simple and boring! For me, I pretty much exclusively drink plain water. Recently I have started enjoying a nice cup of hot tea (usually black or herbal) on a regular basis as well. Brian hates plain water and drinks iced tea (without sugar). He also enjoys a cup of hot tea from time to time.
Neither of us really drank coffee or alcohol even before we switched to a WFPB diet. Brian will enjoy the VERY occasional coffee or alcoholic beverage (maybe 2-3 times a year if that), but I actually don’t like either of them!
We don’t tend to like drinking our calories, but we do enjoy the occasional green smoothie. If I make a green smoothie, it is usually similar to what I made on this What We Eat In A Day video a while back.
WHAT WE EAT
As we discussed in our recap video, we have mostly stuck to following the “Six Week Plan” guidelines from the book Eat To Live for the majority of our weight loss. We started out pretty strict with it and then adjusted as necessary to make it work for us. You can check out our playlist of “What We Eat In A Day” videos here to get a better idea of what we actually eat! I have also included links below for the recipes we mentioned in the Q&A video.

The Healthspan Solution (by Ray Cronise & Julieanna Hever)Eat to Live (by Dr. Joel Fuhrman)
Hi Guys,
I recently found your YouTube channel, and through that, Ray Cronise. Your interview with him was mindblowing and incredible. Thank you!
I listened to your podcast where Jessica was the guest, speaking about her depression. She touched on the fact that testing new recipes seems to be impacting and altering the previous focus you had with your eating and weight loss; keeping your food very simple and predictable, thereby keeping your weight loss straight forward and predictable.
Jessica pondered whether, or not, you guys should take a break, or stop trying out new recipes, while you are still losing weight. I agree with her completely, and suspect that you both know this is true for you, which is why it’s something that you are pondering. You need to trust your instinct for what will be best for you. Yes, you love your Youtube friends, etc., but this is primarily about you, not your viewers. Those who have grown to truly care about you want whats best for you, and they will continue to follow your progress no matter what content you put up. I guess what I’m trying to say is that this is not about the “success” of your YouTube channel, this is about YOUR success. Don’t transfer your focus from yourself to your YouTube channel.
I can see, from what you are experiencing, why Ray says not to tell people about your weight loss adventure. 🙂 People mean well, but essentially are injecting themselves into your path and altering it, and taking you in a direction that you had not planned, and are now realizing has taken you off of your initial chosen path. You can get back there by making solid boundaries for yourselves that will keep you focused on what you want for yourselves, not what others want from you.
You two are amazing people, and the fact that you are allowing us to share in your journey is so generous of you. So keep your journey your own, and what you need it to be to reach your own personal goals, and we will enjoy and appreciate that for what it is.
Hugs,
Susan
Hi,
On your recent live stream, you mentioned trying to find something to help with binding for “meatloaf”. Would glutinous rice flour work for that?
Did you regularly eat meat and dairy prior to potato diet?
Yes – LOTS of dairy. Mostly chicken for meat.
